mobile Rural Health Initiative (mRHI) Nigeria
mobile Rural Health Initiative Nigeria is a civil nonprofit established in 2014 to bridge the gaps in the delivery of essential healthcare services in remote areas to reduce non-communicable disease-related morbidity and mortality. It started with five volunteers at Ido-Ekiti and has grown to a 40-member team comprising physicians, nurses, pharmacists, general surgeons, ophthalmologists, community health and social workers. Currently, mRHI operates in hard-to-reach communities of Ekiti, Ondo, and Osun States in Southwestern Nigeria. Under my clinical leadership since 2017, through purposeful partnerships, mRHI has secured resources to provide sustainable care to 30,000 rural poor. In addition to implementing cataract extraction and inguinal hernia repair surgeries for 194 and over 100 indigents respectively, at no cost.
